    As part of this team, the Lead Network Design Engineer will be responsible for design, solutioning, and implementation of an SDN-based Enterprise Network which spans over 100 global locations and is integral to the company's success. You will provide reactive support for escalated networking issues and proactive project support to enable our SD-WAN based Enterprise Connectivity Transformation initiatives.

    Our Lead Network Design Engineers are required to be Subject Matter Experts within the fields of traditional, cloud, and software defined networking and can translate highly technical subjects to stakeholders whilst engaging, steering, and guiding mid-level Network Design Engineers in delivering network projects and solutions.

    Our Lead Network Design Engineer’s primary focus is to collaborate with Network Architects on high level architectural network designs and synthesize them into deployable low-level designs for sub-domains related to Network technologies including both emerging and traditional technologies. They are required to prove out and test network designs, solutions, and tools through Proof-of-Concept activities, and ensure the delivery of these deployments is transitioned to operational networking teams effectively and consistently with accompanying artifacts including design and standard operating procedure documentation to ensure operational continuity as the deployments go to production.

    This is a hands-on role and presents an exciting opportunity for anyone passionate about working with large-scale Enterprise Networks, especially with a focus on public cloud technologies.

    **Essential Duties and responsibilities**

    **Strategy and Architecture:**

    + Uses appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of network designs. Produces detailed component specifications and translates these into detailed low-level designs for implementation. Provides advice on technical aspects of enterprise networking and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security) are applied correctly.

    + Maintains an in-depth knowledge of emerging and traditional network technologies and provides expert advice regarding their application. Can supervise specialist consultancy as well as internal network engineering activities.

    **GENERAL PURPOSE:**

    The IT Manager I is responsible to lead a team of IT professionals to provide IT Infrastructure and end\-user technical support to the Ross Supply Chain Distribution Center Operations team\. Works with the IT and business management teams to define overall technical direction\. Coordinates the efforts of internal and external staff, and of key business partners in the support of existing production systems and in the execution of new system projects\. Serves as a functional and/or technical expert in one or more disciplines\.

    **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

    • Manages a high\-performance team of employees and 3rd party service providers in the support of existing and future distribution center production systems, and in the execution of new technology or infrastructure projects\.

    • Provides Hands\-on leadership of the DC IT Operations Team in the day\-to\-day assessment, installation, monitoring and maintenance of end\-user computing hardware and software, mobile devices, handheld RF devices, and wireless infrastructure\.

    • Maintains a strong working relationship of trust with local DC Operations leadership and associates\.

    • Works closely with DC Operations, Maintenance, Training and other DC Support Teams to ensure maximum system uptime and DC Operations\.

    • Provides coaching and direction to direct reports to empower them to provide superior internal customer service to Distribution Center users\.

    • Encourage the growth of all direct and/or indirect reports through skills development, objectives and goal setting\. Hold direct reports accountable for meeting performance standards and departmental performance goals; mentor staff; measure staff performance and complete regular performance reviews and rankings\.

    • Ensures end user incidents are resolved in a timely and cost\-effective manner\.

    • Partners with other IT Leaders within the organization to oversee operation of the company's technology infrastructure, including: Networking, Software Engineering & Development, Data Management, Client Computing, Security / Compliance and Help Desk\.

    • Maintains open communication to IT Sr\. Management to keep them apprised on DC IT support and project issues\.

    • Identifies new methods of improving system performance and stability\.

    • Drafts, updates, and maintains DC IT Operation standard operating procedures\.

    • Monitors and track IT assets purchased\. Keep asset inventory up\-to date and track lifecycle\.

    • 5\-10 years' experience as an IT Operations Manager overseeing a team of 3\-5 employees\.

    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline\.

    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize time and tasks with little direction in order to complete work on schedule\.

    **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:**

    This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, including using a computer, attending meetings, working as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others\. Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position\.

    Job occasionally requires bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting to 50 pounds\.

    May require occasional driving and/or traveling overnight for business functions or site visits\.

    This role requires full\-time in\-office presence, including to engage in in\-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback\.
