Overview
Founded in 2014 in Phoenix, AZ by Josette Sullins, CEO, Dehp® Therapeutic (“DEHP”), aka Dehp Integrative Care,”) is an Arizona limited liability company and is licensed by the AZ Department of Health Services as an Intensive Out-Patient (“IOP”) clinic. It has two licensed locations, one in central Phoenix (less than one mile SW of the PHX VA Medical Center), and one in Glendale. DEHP is licensed with all the AHCCCS Payors in Central AZ and is one of 12 Integrative Clinics approved by Mercy Care AZ. DEHP is also an approved provider for TriWest as well as some other corporate insurance companies. While DEHP has a general medical and mental health practice, it specializes in working with those with lived experience, both Veterans and civilians, and those who have been justice involved and suffer from Acute Trauma, PTSD, and Substance Abuse, Employing the dehp Integrative Treatment (“dIT”) and other therapies such as CBT, DBT and EMDR, DEHP also provides Case Management in general, and for education, housing, and technical and vocational services in particular. DEHP is also licensed by AZ Department of Transportation to offer DUI Screening and Education classes; Anger Management classes; and Misdemeanor Domestic Violence classes. Among its therapy offerings, the Dehp Integrative Treatment (“dIT”) is a proprietary application and a successful approach to the clinical management of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (“PTSD”). A 2019 Independent Review Board study showed dIT had an overall Reliable Change Score (“RCS”) of 82% (as compared to a Treatment as Usual sample of a large community behavioral health center in Arizona of 48%, and a national provider of 34%). The dIT RCS was achieved over an average of 5.6 sessions spread over an average of 38.8 days. dIT is a specific series of proprietary applications that reinstate the necessary neuro-somatic interaction needed to process stress, trauma, compound trauma and life experiences in general. In February 2020, Josette and DEHP were awarded the Mercy Care RISE Award (Resilience/Innovation/Service/Empowerment) for Individual Innovation in Healthcare in Arizona. In December 2020, the AZ Department of Veteran Services awarded DEHP, in cooperation with Health Choice (a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield AZ), and Southwest Behavioral & Health Services, a $450,000 grant to train approximately 105 therapists throughout the State of Arizona in the dIT method. Training will continue throughout 2023. In August 2021, Josette was appointed to the Arizona Workforce Alliance, a group of senior healthcare executives representing the Medicaid AHCCCS payors, including Banner Health, Care1st, AZ CompleteCare, Health Choice (BlueCross BlueShield), MercyCare, and UnitedHealthCare. Learning of the need for housing Veterans coming out of in-patient programs, and Veterans languishing in prison for months even though they had been approved for parole since they lacked “approved housing,” in November 2021, DEHP created and funded the Go dehp Transitional Living Program for Veterans (aka Go dehp Veterans Prep). The Program provides transitional housing, meals, and supportive services for formerly homeless/unsheltered male Veteran ages 21-64 who are being discharged from VA Medical Center in-patient facilities or AHCCCs approved in-patient and/or residential behavioral health programs; or Veterans who are participating in the AZ Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry, or the Maricopa County Sheriff’s, Early Release programs. Typically, a four to six-month Program may be extended depending upon the individual mental health and/or financial circumstances of the Veteran. DEHP provides weekly individual therapy, including dIT trauma treatment as needed, weekday group IOP services for General Mental Health & Substance Abuse, and a special Veterans Only group. The Veterans receive weekly case management for educational, technical, and/or vocational needs as they begin the process of re-entering society, including securing employment and/or permanent housing. In 2020, recognizing the need for housing given the affordable housing crisis in AZ in general, and for those with substance use disorders and/or who have been justice involved seeking help, DEHP created additional transitional living housing capacity in west Phoenix that offers supportive services for women. Last year, we opened a transitional living house for Native American men and women. Also in 2022, at its own expense, DEHP provided further expanded this housing for an additional 125 Intensive Out-patient (“IOP”) clients who were previously homeless before coming to DEHP. All houses are certified by the Arizona Recovery Housing Association or the Arizona Department of Health Services. In 2023 we continue to expand our capacity to offer housing as part of our IOP to reduce substance abuse recidivism and incarceration recidivism. In early 2022, DEHP expanded to Glendale and opened another licensed Dehp location in the Administration Building on the Glendale Mission campus. This location offers bi-lingual (Spanish) medical and mental health services to the surrounding community by DEHP employees licensed by the AZ Department of Health Services. The Glendale Mission campus also offers programs and activities by Wellbriety, a Native American recovery group. In late 2022 we also opened an office location in the East Valley in Chandler. In the fourth quarter of 2023, DEHP will be opening a third AZ Department of Health Services licensed location in Tucson, AZ
