**Overview**
**Division Chief of Cardiology**
Dignity Health Medical Group, Arizona is seeking a dynamic, clinical physician leader as its Chief of Cardiology to help develop and grow the cardiovascular division.
This individual will have an instrumental position in nurturing relationships within the hospitals, physician and APP team, and medical group clinics to implement standards for patient care delivery and an excellent patient experience. This leader will ensure the cardiovascular division not only meets current needs, but also will address future needs of patients by introducing new technology, services and procedures as well as established quality of care standards.
The Chief of Cardiology will help develop the Cardiology service line in terms of quality of care, volume, scope of services and cost-effectiveness, and to organize and manage the overall physician component of the program. Other responsibilities include recruitment and retention of faculty, faculty development, financial oversight and stewardship, and emphasis on a strong academic and research environment.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
**Clinical**
Oversees all aspects of the cardiology division
Develops, coordinates and provides input on the development and maintenance of practice guidelines, policies, and methodologies for department specific patient care
Demonstrates consistent, efficient, cost effective, quality care at all times
Reports quality of care issues promptly to appropriate individuals, including CMO and Administration.
Meets established health information and hospital standards for documentation on turnaround times
Coordinates, chairs and participates in all relevant QA/PI and peer review activities as required by the Medical Staff, Department and Hospital
Makes appropriate referrals for specialty services and communicates regularly with referring physicians as appropriate
Manages patients in consultation with referring physicians and provides feedback regarding clinical care
Coordinates the transition of the patient
**Communication**
Collaborates with the Department Chair of Medicine, Operations Director, DHMG leadership, and Cardiology Service Line dyad leaders to establish program goals and objectives
Consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, hospital personnel, and patients/family in order to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction
**Managerial**
Collaborates on daily basis with operational dyad partners
Performs and participates in (credentialing) process of all physicians in their department.
Establishes a management process which fosters cost-effective, high quality patient care
Oversees, participates and develops projects that ensure cost-effectiveness of care provided by physicians and hospitals
Coordinates, participates and meetings as needed or required
Ensures establishment of physician call schedules
Ensures compliance of the care with all regulatory requirements
Develops strategic relationships with referring hospitals and physicians
Coordinates and participates in physician recruitment, service marketing, and community education/prevention activities
**Academic/Training:**
Supports the clinical rotations of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the department
Works closely with program director
Works in collaboration with Creighton School of Medicine and the Creighton Alliance
**Others:**
Supervises the advanced practice provider(s) and develop the scope of practice
Assist with marketing of cardiovascular services to referring providers
Serve as liaison for cardiovascular services throughout the Dignity Health Market in coordination with Dignity Health Medical Group Arizona Division
Serves on several hospital committees as required

Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a full-service, acute care hospital with 197 beds, located in the East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix. The not-for-profit hospital includes approximately 1,400 employees and more than 1,000 physicians representing all major specialties. Its campus is expanding with the development of the Women’s and Children’s Pavilion - a joint project between Mercy Gilbert and Phoenix Children’s.
Chandler Regional Medical Center is a full-service, 429-bed acute-care and trauma level 1 hospital, with approximately 78,000 emergency department and 5,000 trauma activations annually. It is a primary stroke center, has cardiovascular and cardiac surgery services, and neurosurgery. Combined, our East Valley facilities deliver over 7,000 babies/year with growth anticipated with the opening of the Women and Children’s Pavilion.

Dignity Health Medical Group is an affiliate member of the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, giving Creighton learners in Phoenix access to state-of-the-art facilities with knowledgeable practitioners. Through the partnership, Creighton residents, fellows and students gain essential patient-care experience in prominent Phoenix facilities from world-class faculty. Creighton University opened their Phoenix Health Science Campus in 2021 with a full Phoenix presence including a four-year medical school, accelerated nursing program, doctor of pharmacy program, doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy, and master of physician assistant studies, just next door to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center campus. This expansion will ensure that Arizona—and DHMG—are doing their part to contribute to top-notch training of future medical professionals. Dignity Health Medical Group employs the faculty for the newly created community graduate medical education programs in Chandler and Gilbert. The programs include internal medicine, family medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine, and OB GYN residencies.

**Pay Range**
$202.34 - $402.32 /hour
